Poem: Persephone at the Soda Fountain.

Wheeeeeeeeeeee, it's a weird morning. Have some post-modern Greek mythology.

Persephone at the Soda Fountain.

Persephone needs a night-job
For to keep her in summertime style
She's discovered real fast
That her funds just don't last
And you can't pay your way with a smile.

Persephone needs a night-job:
She's got bills that she really must pay.
So like most summer girls
She'll be giving a whirl
To a job that won't take up her days.

Persephone needs a night-job;
It's a pity few florists work late.
She's quite good with her hands
And she does understand
That a waitressing gig might be fate.

Persephone needs a night-job --
She'll work at the diner downtown,
Mixing sodas and malts,
And for all of her faults,
You'll never see sweet Sephie frown.

Persephone needs a night-job,
But she's not complaining at all,
Because Hades comes late,
Every late shift's a date,
And Persephone's having a ball!
